Holiday farmhouse “Il Cipresso” enjoys a strategic position that allows guests to easily reach all major tourist, cultural and eno-gastrononomic attractions of both Tuscany and Umbria. Cortona, only 2 miles away from the farm, is an ancient Etruscan town perched on a verdant hill affording stunning views over the Valdichiana, Lake Trasimeno and the Monte Amiata. An ancient Etruscan city-state and later a free-commune Cortona is filled with quaint alleys, beautiful churches and museums all to visit strolling down the streets of the old historic centre.

Arezzo (20 miles). The upper part of the city dating back to the middle-ages features the Cathedral, the Medicean fortress, a number of aristocratic buildings as well as old tower-houses and churches housing frescoes and paintings by Lorenzetti and Piero della Francesca. The medieval city of Siena (40 miles), the city of the Palio, offers visitors the world-famous Piazza del Campo, the Palazzo Pubblico, the Museum and the Cathedral built in the late 12th century.  Florence (about 60 miles), located at the very centre of Tuscany and Italy is one of Italy’s most significant cities in terms of arts, culture and architecture. The city was the birth place of painters such as Giotto and Cimabue, Renaissance innovators such as Brunelleschi and Donatello and universal personalities such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Not to be missed the Uffizi, the most prestigious gallery in the world, the sculptures of Michelangelo, the Medici chapels, The Battistero with its mosaics and the Duomo.
Perugia (about 30 miles) features the Fontana Maggiore, designed by Frà Bevignate, the Palazzo dei Priori, the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria and the Rocca Paolina.

Gubbio (50 miles) with its ceramics and its medieval traditions such as the celebrated race of the Ceri (enormous wooden figures symbolising three saints), Lake Trasimeno (10 miles) and other towns such as Pienza, Montalcino, Camaldoli, La Verna are just a few examples of the jewels that make the area so famous around the world.
